One of those weeks, but thank goodness for oatmeal!!!

I've had one of those weeks.

You know the kind -- full of emotional highs and lows.

Thank goodness for oatmeal! Yes, I said oatmeal. It brightened my day!

See that lovely slow cooker full of creamy, tummy-warming, heaven-in-a-bowl? That's what I had waiting for me when I got up this morning. It has become one of my favorite breakfast foods.

It's made with steel-cut oats, pearl barley, apple juice, and wonderful spices.

I found the recipe in the cookbook, 365 Days of Slow Cooking by Janet Petersen.

  1. Ooo, that looks so delicious! And I bet your house smelled like heaven, too. That's one of my favorite things about my slow cooker–how it fills the home with good fragrances! Homes that smell like good things cooking are so comforting and cozy. Thanks for sharing the cookbook and the recipe. I'll have to try this!

    I really love cereal! That's my usual breakfast. But my favorite special breakfast is homemade waffles. Mmmm!!
